THE TEAM

ASH GARWOOD - Promotion and Marketing.
Ash was an unseen face for most of SUP4DCA but her contribution was vital. She helped Tom refine the idea of SUP4DCA after the lightbulb moment and continued her help throughout the journey. The SUP4DCA logo design and creation of countless other images used for promotion were all done by Ash as she turned SUP4DCA from an idea into a brand that raised over $81,000

Waz and Cath - Support Crew

The opening support crew and the pair that allowed the trip to begin. Waz and Tom's grandma Cath, were there for the first week and helped sort through the chaos of finding a river with no water. The cliche is that every journey starts with a single step and Waz and Cath were there for that very first one.

Sebastian Krone - Support Crew
The story of Seb joining SUP4DCA is one that's almost unbelievable. A German backpacker who happened to be speaking to the right people at the right time (shoutout to Dodgy Dave) brought Seb to SUP4DCA, but once on board he was a huge asset to Tom. Seb was there for the entire running section and while Tom pounded the KM's in the heat, Seb was always ready at the end of the day with beer and onions. Together Tom and Seb were able to share the experience of exploring a unique region of Australia.

KEN EASSON - Support Crew

If you need a person capable of making you laugh after a grueling 12hr, 50km, SUP paddle, then Ken is your guy. Ken took over from Seb as Tom hit water in Walgett, NSW. Together with his mates, Dave Foggarty and Daryl Hill, they helped SUP4DCA receive some great exposure and also drove Tom to set a series of personal best KM's.
Despite waiting on the banks of the river everyday with a fishing rod, Ken still managed to catch only one fish, an inedible carp (or "whale" as described by Ken) seen in the picture, fortunately he had plenty of finer moments during his time with SUP4DCA.

JOHN HATTERSLEY - Support Crew

Stepping in at late notice and putting up with Tom during one of the most difficult weeks of the trip was Tom's grandpa, John.
John was the support crew that helped Tom get through a tough few weeks.
A section that was a logistical nightmare with two vehicles to move, with punctured boards, broken paddles and a blown tyre all adding to the stress, John kept Tom moving down the river, and closer to the finish line through it all.

HANNAH ABSALOM - Support Crew

Spending almost the entire second half of the trip as Support crew was Hannah.
Tom having been on the water for a while now and starting to find a rhythm, Hannah kept him churning out the KM's. Paddling out in her little blue kayak to meet Tom for the final few KM's of everyday was often the only time Tom shared the water with anyone. Meeting plenty of great people and sharing a week as support crew with 'Twiggy' Hodgson Hannah's enthusiasm kept Tom going as he reached almost 4 months of travelling.
